Privacy Policy

Overview

Splitsy is a bill-splitting app made by Five to Nine Labs LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We collect only what we need to make the app work — nothing more.

Information you provide

Your display name, optional phone number, and optional Venmo / Cash App / PayPal handles. Receipts you scan and items you enter manually. Friends you save (names, optional phones). Tabs and split history. Everything you provide is stored locally on your device by default.

Receipt scanning

When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to a service operated by us, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API for OCR. The image is processed once to extract items and tax, then discarded. Anthropic does not retain receipt images for training. The original photo stays on your device.

Contacts

If you grant Contacts access, names and phones from your address book are read locally to suggest friends in the picker. Contacts are never uploaded or stored on our servers. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Contacts → Splitsy.

Payment requests

When you send a payment request, a short link is generated and a record is stored on our servers (Supabase). The recipient's phone number is never stored — only the request amount, expiration, and an optional payment confirmation. We use Apple Messages to actually send the SMS; we do not run an SMS gateway.

Analytics & crash reporting

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics and Sentry for crash reports. These help us fix bugs and understand which features people use. We never link analytics events to your name, phone, or email.

Subscriptions

Splitsy Pro is sold via Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment and subscription state — we never see your credit card or billing details.

Your rights

You can delete all local data from Settings → Clear History at any time. To delete server-side payment-request records, contact us at the email below. We honor deletion requests within 30 days.

Children

Splitsy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above tells you when it last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy.
