Five to Nine Labs ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Splitsy mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address when you create an account
- Contacts: Names and phone numbers of friends you add to splits (stored locally and in your account)
- Split Data: Bill amounts, item details, merchant names, split history
- Subscription Information: Managed through Apple's App Store; we do not collect payment card details
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Analytics: App interactions, feature usage, session duration (via PostHog)
- Crash Reports: Device type, OS version, crash logs (via Sentry)
- Device Identifiers: Anonymous identifiers for analytics purposes
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Payment or banking credentials
- Precise location data
- Browsing history
- Health or fitness data
- Content of text messages sent through the App
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Splitsy service
- To process and display your split history
- To send payment request links on your behalf
- To manage your subscription
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- To understand usage patterns and improve features
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Service Providers: PostHog (analytics), Sentry (crash reporting), Supabase (data storage), RevenueCat (subscriptions) — each bound by data processing agreements
- Payment Links: When you send a split link, the recipient sees the amount owed and your name. No other personal data is shared.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase with row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring you can only access your own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active
- Split history: Retained until you delete it or your account
- Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized after 12 months
- Crash reports: Retained for 90 days
6. Your Rights
You may:
- Access your personal data through the App
- Export your split history (PRO feature)
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting support@getsplitsy.app
- Opt out of analytics in App settings
7. Children's Privacy
Splitsy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Links
When you use "Pay App" features, the App opens third-party payment apps (Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal). These apps have their own privacy policies which we do not control.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. California Residents (CCPA)
